Mission

The Montefiore Prevention Center’s mission is to provide inclusive, comprehensive, and judgment-free healthcare to all members of Bronx regardless of ability to pay.

Background

The Montefiore Prevention Program (MPP) builds upon the recognition across all of Montefiore that developing high quality, effective systems for identifying, engaging, and implementing community based rapid HIV testing, PrEP/PEP care, evidence-based interventions and other HIV prevention activities, are important public and community health objectives.

Montefiore and EngageBx

EngageBx is a joint effort of the Montefiore Medical Group & the Bronx Community Health Network to provide access to high-quality healthcare for all communities in the Bronx & NYC, including those who identify as a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

We provide navigation into health services including: primary care, HIV/STI testing and treatment, PrEP care (an HIV prevention medication), mental health services, substance abuse treatment and more.

Our highly experienced, friendly, and patient-centered doctors provide comprehensive and sensitive medical care for you in safe and comfortable environments.  Our team of nurses, social workers, health educators, community health workers, and other staff value and respect confidentiality.

EngageBx Funding Is Provided By BCHN

Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN) is a not-for-profit organization and Federally Funded Health Center that sponsors 21 community and school-based health centers in the Bronx.

BCHN Mission

BCHN was established in 1996. Our mission is to:

  • Improve the health of people and families in the Bronx. People in the Bronx are more likely to suffer from illnesses that can be prevented such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, and other conditions than the general population. Sixteen percent of Bronx residents have no health insurance to deal with these problems. We make quality health care and preventative health services available to everyone in the community, even if they are uninsured.

  • Provide access to affordable, quality health care especially for uninsured persons. Our medical care and support services are low cost or free, and available to people of all races, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, immigration, or health status.

  • Promote disease prevention, early treatment and healthy lifestyles. We offer a wide variety of health and wellness programs, like exercise and dance classes, community health fairs, smoking cessation programs, and health screenings.

  • Obtain financial and other resources for programs and services. We make sure our health centers have the funding to bring quality services to the people who need it.

The Staff

At the Prevention Center we have a Program Manager, an HIV Tester, a Patient Navigator, several Outreach Staff and Social Media Outreach Specialists. We also would not be complete without our interns and volunteers who rotate throughout the year and help us with all aspects of the services we provide.
